AP Art Studio Students paint with
London Artist: Christian Dore
https://www.christiandore.com/
BORN IN KENT, ENGLAND IN 1970 CHRISTIAN DORE SPENT MOST OF HIS CHILDHOOD LIVING ABROAD. AT THE AGE OF 13 HE RETURNED HOME TO SETTLE IN THE SMALL VILLAGE OF SHORNE IN KENT. AT 18 YEARS OF AGE HE WAS ACCEPTED INTO THE KENT INSTITUTE OF ART AND DESIGN BEFORE CONTINUING HIS EDUCATION AT THE PRESTIGIOUS BOURNE MOUTHE AND POOLE COLLEGE OF ART. HIS CAREER BEGAN AS A MOTION GRAPHIC ARTIST FOR THE BBC AS WELL AS MTV AND NICKELODEON. AFTER ACCEPTING A DESIGNERS POSITION IN COLORADO IT WAS THERE THAT HIS ARTWORK TRULY FLOURISHED. AFTER MOVING TO THE COLORADO FOOTHILLS IT WAS HERE THAT DORE’S WORK EVOLVED INTO THE WORK THAT IS OWNED IN PRIVATE COLLECTIONS THROUGHOUT THE WORLD. DORE’S WORK EXPLORES THE IMPRESSIONS OF THE LUSH ENVIRONMENT AROUND HIM. HE TAKES THE EXPRESSIVE QUALITIES OF COLOR AND MIXES THEM WITH A SOMEWHAT WHIMSICAL NARRATIVE TO CAPTURE HIS FEELINGS. DORE’S FLURRY OF ABSTRACT FORMS ARE BY NO MEANS FRENETIC AND EACH PAINTING MANAGES TO CONVEY A SERENE MOMENT IN TIME, A TRANQUIL CALM. THE RELENTLESS BUILD UP OF TEXTURE IS INTENTIONAL TO CONVEY THAT OF SOUND AND MOVEMENT WHILST MESHING NATURE INTO HIS OWN DISTINCTIVE STYLE.

AP STUDIO ART Students paint with Tadashi Hayakawa
|
TADASHI HAYAKAWA internationally acclaimed Japanese Painter opened his studio on Wednesday February 15th to our 2017-18 EHS AP Studio Art class. The students had the opportunity to paint with him all day. His knowledge and inspiration has an amazing effect on the young artists. Their resultant work shows tremendous intuition and visual growth. Tadashi a once very successful Graphic Designer abandoned his post 25 years ago to pursue his soul's real passion, painting. After the upheaval of a California bohemian life style Tadashi scaled down to the bare necessities, relocated to Colorado, keeping only what was needed for making art. And through a series of unplanned encounters quickly became a highly sought after artist for many a collector. Since then Tadashi has had great influence on the development of the Cultural Arts scene in Parker, CO. He houses his studio at the new PACE center in Parker. Tadashi can also be found in his Denver Arts District studio Artwork Network on Sante Fe and 9th.
In May 2017 Japan will be honoring Tadashi with a month long show in Tokyo and tribute to his artistic contributions both to Japan and the United States. Tadashi a humble spirit abundantly shares his experience and insights with students, artists and contemporaries. He is inspiring and motivating. The students were in awe at being in the presence of a true master. Below are the painting that the students created. |
EHS ALUMNI- Revisit Woodstock??
2005 & 2006 EHS Graduates Michael Berardini & Mindy Berardini are happily ever after residing in Connecticut and working at Blue Sky Studios. This summer (2016) we visited the studio and got a VIP tour of the inside and outs of what it means and takes to make an animated feature film! WOW!
Michael & Mindy were great hosts and below is a picture of part of the day! Michael continues his animation and is working on their new films and Mindy is currently a talent scout for hiring future artists to work at Blue Sky. |

Have the Valentime of your Life!
On Tuesday, February 9, 2016
Eaglecrest‘s NAHS students will be hosting
Vignettes, Van Gogh & Valentines. This is an event lead by NAHS student artists for parents, teachers and the community. Bring a friend or your loved one for a unique painting experience. The event is from 4:30 - 7:30. It will be in the art rooms, 282 & 280.
What is a Vignette? A vignette is a small scene, completely original and unplanned. No experience necessary!
Sweet Tomatoes is providing salads and the students will be providing dinner & mocktails!
If you can't make it, please look for Leonardo & Lemonade in May
Questions regarding this event or interested in the EHS NAHS hosting another venue please contact Lisa Adams (720) 886-1140 or email [email protected]

CTE SURVEY
2007 EHS Alumni is paying it forward... offering summer ART jobs!
2007 EHS graduate Jeremy Legins came to AP Studio Art class to interview students for summer art jobs at Elitches. Jeremy is the Visual Arts manager for Caricature, Face Painting & Body Art at the popular Denver Amusement Park, Eilitches. Jeremy contacted us and asked if he could talk to art students about summer job opportunities.
While he and his lead artist were here they had students paint a prompt on a classmate's arm. They watched the artists work, went through the edicts of the job responsibilities and the details of applying. In addition Jeremy did caricatures of interested students and sent them home with the fun portraits! Thus far 7 EHS Art students have summer jobs at Elitches doing what they love... ART!
When Legins called he was asked why do you want to talk to our kids he said because I know they are going to be reliable and well trained artists!! Way to go EHS ARTISTS you rock!
Below are some pictures of the interviews!
Currently 9 EHS students have been hired to work this Summer & Fall season!
