AP 3-D Portfolio

This course is a yearlong and is for the serious art student. It may be the student who wants to major or minor in Art in College or who wants to pursue their own personal exploration in Visual Arts. To enroll students must have completed all prior levels in Drawing/Painting, Ceramics or Photography/Graphic Design. The course is designed by College board to accommodate students who have expressed an interest in completing either the 2-D Design. 3-D Design or Drawing/Painting Portfolio Exams.Teacher directed units are presented in accordance with College Board Exam requirements. For the exam students are required to submit a 24 piece portfolio that is an exploration of a breadth of work as well as a deeper body of visual investigation. There is an expectation that the students will attend after school studio time in order to complete the work.This class may also be repeated for credit as 3 Exams are offered. However if a student wishes to do AP Studio Art twice they must start as a junior and still have all prerequisites completed. Naviance teacher recommendation is necessary.

Sculpture is the craft of making two, or three dimensional artwork that can be representative or abstracted forms. Traditional techniques such as craving, building or casting can be explored. The medium of clay is a material that can be used, but will not be the focus of exploration. Materials such as plaster, wood and paper manipulation will be mediums that will be examined.

This is an entry level class designed for students who are beginners and are comfortable with drawing and painting. All levels of artistic comfort will be challenged.
